Ingredients

  • ½ cup blackberries
  • 8 fresh basil leaves torn
  • 3-4 teaspoons simple syrup
  • 4 oz silver tequila ½ cup
  • 1 oz orange liqueur
  • Juice from ½ lime plus slices for garnish and a squeeze on the edge of each cup
  • Kosher salt for rim

Instructions

  • In a cocktail shaker or large glass, muddle together the blackberries, torn basil leaves and simple syrup until everything is smashed and the liquid is released.
  • Add in your ice, tequila, orange liqueur and lime juice and shake well to combine everything. At this point, you can either strain out the blackberry seeds and basil leaves or leave them in which I like to do.
  • Rim 2 glasses with a slice of lime and dip them in the kosher salt. Fill each cup with ice and then with the margarita and serve! Enjoy!

Notes

To make this into an alcohol free mocktail, switch out the tequila for your favorite sparkling water or half water and half sparkling water!
