The BEST Magic Bars!
These Magic bars are pretty special to me. Every year, my mom and I would make these among many other desserts, put them all in a decorative box and give them away to family, friends, and neighbors who over the years became family. This was always one of my favorite things to make and we’ve made them our own based on what we would have on hand from holiday baking. This version is by far the best you’ll ever have! These are the easiest bars ever and will be pretty much tied for best dessert with your favorite warm, chocolate chip cookie – if not BETTER. I won’t say “I hope you enjoy these”, because I KNOW you will!
Ingredients:
2 ½ cups crushed graham crackers
1/2 cup butter or ghee (samneh), melted
½ cup semisweet or bittersweet chocolate chips
1/3 cup butterscotch chips
1/3 cup white chocolate chips
¼ cup toffee bits
1 cup pecans or walnuts, chopped
1 1/3 cup unsweetened coconut chips
1 – 14 oz can sweetened condensed milk
Sprinkle of salt for the top
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 F
In a bowl, mix together the graham cracker crumbs and melted butter until fully combined and it resembles wet sand. Place the contents of the bowl into a 9×13 baking dish. Flatten the crumbs against the dish as evenly as possible to create the crust layer.
Using about ¾ of the can, pour the condensed milk over the entire graham cracker crust. This will seal it and keep the crust from crumbling when you cut into it.
Top the crust with the chocolate chips, butterscotch, white chocolate, toffee, nuts and coconut as desired, being sure each piece has a bite of each topping. Press down slightly so all the toppings adhere to the crust.
Top the bars with the remaining condensed milk by drizzling the rest of the can evenly over the coconut throughout the dish. Sprinkle with a bit of salt on top and bake for 20-25 minutes or until the coconut turns golden brown.
Remove from heat and allow to cool for 15 minutes (I know, but you can do it!) Once cooled, sliced into desired pieces or eat the entire tray – nobody is judging here. Enjoy!
