Arabic Salad with Lettuce

This simple Arabic salad with lettuce goes well with just about everything. Especially Arab dishes with rice and yogurt.
If you’ve been around here a while, you may know that one of the most popular recipes on my site is this simple salad that I make all the time. Or even salata falahiyeh which is and Arab farmers salad with tomatoes, onions, jalapenos and parsley. Easy salad recipes like these can go with just about everything. That may even been how you found me on social media, YouTube or my blog! This is pretty much that simple salad recipe, but with lettuce. I also add bell peppers to this too.
Even though these salads are so similar in their ingredient list, I tend to make them at different times and to go with different dishes. For instance:
I’ll make the simple salad WITHOUT lettuce to go with:

Shawarma bowls
and I’ll make this salad with lettuce to go with:
Makloubeh
Suniyet djaj (Baked chicken and potatoes)
Greek chicken
Even though I crave these at different times when I make certain dishes, there is of course no rule to cooking. You can make these salads whenever you feel like it! If you have a rotisserie chicken on hand and want to just make a meal out of the salad itself, top it with the chicken (or chickpeas for a vegetarian option) and maybe scoop it up with some bread (the utensil of an Arab lol) and eat it that way!

Arabic Salad with Lettuce
Ingredients
For the salad:
- 1 large head romaine lettuce chopped
- 3 Persian cucumbers diced
- 2 Roma or vine ripe tomatoes diced
- 4-5 Raddish diced
- 1 bell pepper – red, yellow or orange seeded and diced
- ⅓ red onion or 1 shallot cut very finely
- ½ bunch fresh parsley leaves chopped
- Handful of fresh mint leaves chopped
For the dressing:
- ½ lemon zest and juiced (about 2-3 Tablespoons)
- 3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- 1 Tablespoon sumac
- 1 Tablespoon dried mint crushed
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- To a bowl, add the lettuce and all other chopped veggies and herbs
- Directly on the top of the salad, add all the dressing ingredients. Mix and serve as desired with a meal, as a side dish or eat as is.
